How I Work

Whatever your requirements, my first step is to meet you. Preferably that would be face-to-face, in your home or somewhere neutral for us both, like a coffee shop or a hotel lounge. If this isn’t possible, I would aim to meet you virtually on a Zoom call. The aim is to find out exactly what you want, what kind of service and how you would like it to look and feel. You may want suggestions for music, poetry or readings which I am happy to help with. Ideally, this can come later as my main aim is to talk to you about what you would like in ‘the script’, that I will read on the day. If you want me to talk to anyone else such as other family members or close friends I will, of course. I’d want you to try and keep two hours free for this meeting and I would aim to return a draft script to you within 5 days dependent on any meetings with other people.

The second stage is for me to write a draft script.  I will do this after I have met with anyone else you wish me to. I will email you the draft and give you some time to reflect on it and wait for you to tell me if there are any edits or additions that are needed. We will then have our working script. I will also send you suggestions for music if you need them. You have a choice in what you want me to wear, some people prefer formal clothes whereas others like a more relaxed approach, it’s your choice.

48 hours before the event I will check in with you to make sure everything is still as planned or if there are any last-minute alterations.

On the day I will arrive approximately 40 minutes early, to ensure things like the PA are working, liaise with anyone else involved in the service and await your arrival. At the end of the service, I will present you with a copy of the script for your keeping.
