A Bit About Me

I am a gay man with a particular interest in working with and for the LGBT+ community but this doesn’t exclude others that don’t identify as such.   All I ask is that potential clients have an inclusive approach to life, and embrace the different perspectives and experiences people can bring to the table in order to make your special event memorable.

I am a southerner having lived in Manchester for over 30 years, a city I’ve long since considered my home. I live with young people who are care leavers.  This is something I’ve done for over ten years and love seeing their confidence grow and then moving on when they reach 21, more prepared for life than when they arrived. As well as celebrancy I also work on an instant messaging service that is available for LGBT+ young people and work with parents of trans and non-binary children as they try and navigate a different world to what they’ve always known.  I have an adopted son who is over 40 and I remain close to many of the young people who have lived with me over the last ten years.

For many years I worked in the arts as an actor, writer and director. More recently I have worked in Arts management with a focus on community events and I thrive on seeing people discovering their own creativity and the path that leads them on.

I became a celebrant because it was a different way of working with people and utilizes my skills gained over the last 40 years. Celebrancy is creative in terms of working with families, friends and individuals to create their own fitting ceremony and its fun!  It also uses my skills as a performer, I rarely need a microphone in large spaces!

I have a dog, called Baxter who is now quite senior and one of the reasons I decided to offer pet service. They deserve a good send off just as we do.

If you want to ask me anything else, please contact me and I’ll be happy to reply!

Thank you.
